Synaesthesiologists is a collection of visual music by numerous international artists. Synaesthesiologists premiered as a combination screening and live audio/visual event at the New York Video Festival in July of 2004.

Announcing a program of Test-Portal 2005, "Synaesthesiologists," presented as a series of screenings and performances between June 10th and June 25th, 2005 within the Docklands Hal. New York AudioVisualists David Last and Benton-C present a wide range of work by contemporary "Synaesthesiologists" - international video artists fusing sight and sound in the rapidly expanding genre of visual music.
For Test-Portal, David Last and Benton-C have curated works spanning over 3 decades from artists based in America, Japan and Europe. Throughout the two week festival, a series of programs will be screened with Last and Benton-C as VJ 'selectors', from the pure abstraction of Jake Mandell and Jeffers Egan's Slither (Berlin/US) to the orchestrated reality of Sein and Sequence3's Infrastructure (Tokyo). In the context of the Test-Portal installation, Last and Benton-C are able to 'stretch out', presenting several audiovisual albums in full along with the usual shorter fare drawn from abstract video pioneers and today's top VJs and experimental a/v artists. Commissioned work by Damon Soule (San Francisco) and DJ Raedawn (NYC) brings hip hop and graffiti-based art ever closer, while AudioVisualists Johnny deKam (Asheville, NC) and SOLU (Barcelona), David Last and Benton-C perform live laptop sets in pairings with Test-Portal musical artists. Expect some surprises between.

Synaesthesiologists goes to the Virginia
Film Festival, October 29th 2004
A special theatrical presentation of the Synaesthesiologists
screening will be followed by a dance party on October 30th.
At the party, David Last and Chris Jordan will supply video,
and DJ Spinoza (the Bunker) will supply some hot tracks
to keep the crowd bouncing.
Thanks again to all the artists who submitted work,
and all the people who came to check it out in New York.
The
video jukebox that was part of the original New York show won't be
included in Virginia,
but there may be some international gallery
bookings for it in 2005.
